Why Give Up Your Dreams of a Better House?
It is doom and gloom everywhere, the economy is in trouble big time, and there seems no light at the end of the tunnel. Mortgage finance is hard to come by, and deposits need to be bigger, what is worse is that there seems little prospect of things getting much better for the foreseeable future. Most people are looking to downsize their homes not upsize, it is hardly surprising with confidence being so slow that the housing market is in the doldrums.
Unemployment is stubbornly high, but for every person who is unemployed, there are probably three or four people who are feeling unsecure at work, worrying that they might be made redundant. Many people are stuck in jobs they hate, unable to move, but grateful that they still have a job.
Few people are optimistic, there feels like there is a cloud of pessimism everywhere, confidence is low and that is half the problem, people aren't spending and if people don't spend economies don't grow.
Many people's dreams of a good life are going up in smoke, there is despair in the air, fear, uncertainty and doubt. It is like a downward spiral a vortex going into the abyss, yet amongst the pain, stress and frustration, a strange thing is happening, many of the rich are getting richer. Get this; Rolls Royce Sales are taking off, 2011 saw the highest sales in the company's 107 year history see:
"Not everything in this world is as you think it is. Some politicians say: "we are all in this together", that we might be, but some people have never had it so good, it all depends who you are, and where you are, and what you are doing" so says international best-selling author, thought leader and job hunting and careers expert Jonathan Blain.
The message is, in tough times most people's first reaction is to give up on their dreams, the new better house is probably the first thing to disappear off the wish list. The economy is like a storm, it changes, it is different, but most people carry on as before, what you really need to do is to change and adapt to the world as it is now, not pretending that it is the same as before. It is not survival of the fittest, fitness has got nothing to do with it, is a case of survival of the smartest.
Top Tips:
1. Read the book Who Moved My Cheese, they will realise how important it is to adapt when your environment changes.
2. Rather than people give up on your dreams and your new house, adapt, like many of the super-rich are doing - see the book Job Hunting and Career Pain relief.
3. Get yourself a professionally written CV.
4. Consider a job hunting and career step change - this means raise your game, do more and better things to get a job.
5. Be imaginative and creative, don't follow the crowd.
6. Become massively competitive and like a top sportsman play to win - it's a competitive job market out there.
Get your job hunting and career management strategy right, and you can have the house of your dreams, despite the tough economic conditions!
